After about an hour and half on the turbojet, we finally reached Hong Kong! The sea was quite rough that day, so I almost vomited on the ferry. My asam-boi totally came handy that day.
We were then driven to our hotel, Dorsett Far East in Tsuen Wan.
We were then driven to our hotel, Dorsett Far East in Tsuen Wan.
When we reached our rooms, we were shocked by the size of it. SO TOTALLY FRIGGIN' SMALL!
They're totally different from the website's pictures! I know it's gonna be small.. But not THAT confined. Guess we shouldn't trust the hotel's website, huh??
After we've freshen up, we took the MTR (HK's transit railway) to Tsim Tsa Tsui to have dinner and celebrate New Year's Eve at the harbour.
I gotta say the MTR is so friggin' convenient. It practically connects you to everywhere. Although sometimes you gotta walk for a bit. But still, it's so convenient that I'm missing it so much. And there's a light indicator to show that we're at a particular station. So, it really helps if you have missed the announcement from the operator and you would want to know which station you're at.The Star LRT and Putra LRT should really install these light indicators .
As soon as we got off the train, we went food-hunting. I was really up for some street food, so we tried a hawker stall.
I had the wan ton noodle, which was one of the food to try on my food list. One thing I love about HK's wan ton is that they're made of shrimp instead of pork. The noodle was cooked to perfection and it's best eaten with chilli oil. The soup is a tad too salty for my liking. The best wan ton noodle I had was still the one in Ladies' market. I would never forget the taste.
Macho, on the other hand, had the beef ball noodle. It was pretty tasty. Again, the soup is a tad too salty. However, the saltiness seemed just right for the ham sup poh Macho. Both of us also had the HK Milk tea to wash down the noodle.
After dinner, we head over to the Avenue of Stars to count down for New Year.
Thanked god we went there quite early, or else we wouldn't get the chance to stand on the best spots. I've gotta admit that the wait for the clock to struck 12 was pretty painful. Luckily, it was breezy that night. I think Macho and I waited for almost 3 hours. Watching the gorgeous ang moh was the only way to amuse ourselves that night. Then, Macho got so pissed with a girl that snatched the eye candy away, she "accidentally" attacked her with the camera tripod. How ganas! Hahaha.
Finally, the clock strucked 12 and it marked the beginning of 2009!
Here's a video of the fireworks recorded by my Samsung Omnia ;-p
The fireworks lasted for about 10 minutes or so. Then, everybody started to head back home. Macho and I were quite surprised with their actions. We thought new year's in Hong Kong would be much more merrier. It was totally below our expectations. Probably we couldn't hear the sound of the fireworks. So, it was pretty quiet. Then again, their fireworks are undeniably special as they were released from the buildings. We just wished the celebration at the Avenue would be merrier. Maybe next time we should go to Times Square or Lan Kwai Fong instead.
We stayed a while to get a few pictures before heading home. On our way to the MTR, we only realised that the "party" has only begun. Throngs and throngs of people were heading to the MTR too. Took us about 20 minutes to get to the nearest station. Then it was another 30 minutes ride to Tsuen Wan. At the end of the day, we were dog-tired.

So, that's pretty much what happend in Day 2. Will update soon!
