Shop Till I Drop (Day 4 in Bangkok, Part II)

It was D-day. The day that I've been waiting for!!! The beaming sun is definitely a good sign for some street shopping spree =) Cuz sunny weather means no rain..No rain means no interruption during my street shopping therapy ;)

So after visiting the Reclining Buddha, we took a cab to the place where the Chinese Thais belong; that is........................................

The yellow taxi and the neon signs behind looked like reminiscences of New York Times Square. Well, the Asian version of cos..

By the same token, the neon signs also reminded me of the streets in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Chinatown in Bangkok is pretty huge in comparison to Malaysia's Petaling Street. And kindda similar too.. The only difference is that the Chinese in Bangkok's Chinatown doesn't speak Chinese. Hahaha..

The goods sold there are pretty much Chinese stuff.

Didn't bought much in Chinatown. Except for some Chinese tid-bits as souvenirs. But we sure did try the famous delicacies in Chinatown.... Bird Nest!! Cost about 200 baht.. Of cos there are some expensive ones..But I opted for the cheapest ler..Muahaha...
The taste is too sweet for my liking, could've been better if it weren't so sweet. Nonetheless, it tasted okay.

Then, we headed to Siam Paragon for some air-conditioning after a hot day under the sun...

Siam Paragon is conveniently located at the Siam Square main skytrain (BTS) station. It's one the largest shopping centre in Bangkok. It houses high-end brands like Balenciaga, Hermès, Giorgio Armani, Jimmy Choo; just to name a few.

In Siam Paragon, there is also Siam Ocean World, the biggest aquarium in Southeast Asia. Like many places in Thailand, Siam Ocean World practices race based dual pricing. This indicates that Thai looking people pay lesser. (I think I would pay lesser as some of the Thais have mistaken me as a Thai too...Hahaha)

We only hanged out abit in Siam Paragon as the shops there are too expensive to be visited.. So we went to a more affordable shopping centre , MBK Center.

MBK Center, also known as Mahboonkrong, is considered to be the most visited mall in the country as the stuff sold there were affordable..More within my budget la.... Besides that, most of the stuff there are brought in from wholesale markets like Pratunam or Chatuchak market. This is my second time visiting the mall as I was there on my 2nd day in Bangkok. And mind you, I was struggling to survive after visiting the mall that day..Hehe..Cuz there are seriously lotsa stuff to see and buy there. So darn cheap!

Information technology accessories and electronics, particularly mobile phones, are a specialty in MBK. Some of the phone designs are more advanced than those available in Malaysia! However, for the IT geeks and IT-savvies, Pantip Plaza is the place for you as that is the place where all the IT stuff are sold. It's even bigger than Low Yat Plaza and Digital Mall combined.

As the night sets in, we went hunting for local street food. We've been wanting to try this stall since we saw it when we passed by the Ratchathewi BTS station. It's located directly below the station.

Here are the food that we ordered:

Scrumptious! A good appetizer! Love the sour-spicy combo.

One of my favourite dish as I love everything asparagus =) One of the common dish in Bangkok. The asparagus are really fresh.

Another favourite of mine. It was good too. As good as Jimmy & Nong's. If not, better.

This dish is slightly different from what I've normally tasted. Has a slight sweetness to it. I love kangkung.. But not the sweet taste. Nonetheless, it was edible.

A great meal, I would say..As it only cost us 300 baht.

After dinner, we went for a stroll as it was our last night in Bangkok.
