What Is Up????

I don't know what's happening these days..People seemed to have closed down their blogs out of a sudden. And yesterday.. It was no exception. I was a little dissapointed that two blogs that I ocassionally frequent decided to pack their bags and leave the blogging arena.

Previously, another two of my favourite blogs have already "closed down" (see here and here) without any reason or any sign AT ALL. I was anticipating their next post and POOF! They were gone! Gone! Nada! No traces of when and why they quit blogging altogether.

And now, the other two are leaving too? This is sad man...I really enjoyed reading them (see here and here). Both are different genre altogether.. That's what I love about them..The former is very thought-provoking while the latter provide the occasional funny fix that I needed.

So, if you have time to kill, do drop by their blog cuz god-knows-when their blogs were gonna self-destruct.

p.s. I hope they'll changed their minds...

Mistaken Identity

For the past week, I've been mistaken as a Malay by some of my colleagues. I wonder why. Either my Bahasa Melayu is so friggin' fluent or that I often hang out with the Malay colleagues , so I'm becoming one of them ... Of cos, I chose to believe the former :p

Unfortunately, my colleagues chose the latter. I don't know why though. Immediately, some Chinese colleagues will speak Bahasa Melayu with me (So far, I've encountered 2 incidents). Then I'll go like, "Erm.. I'm Chinese ..You can speak English or Cantonese with me."

One of the responses was , " Oh really?" (In my heart , I was like.. D'uh!)

I think it's all cuz of the little rumour spread by somebody that I am a Malay, to the extent that my senior that I've been working with asked me whether I am a Chinese or Malay. At first, she was sure that I'm Chinese cuz I have spoken Canto with her before. But cuz of the rumour, she wasn't too sure.. LOL

So, to play along... I told her that I'm mixed.

And for a split second, she believed me. Until I told her I was kidding.

And she goes like, "Ceh! I really thought you are mixed."

Well... I can't blame her though cuz after all, I have this exotic look.. Muahahahhaha

p.s. I looked like Malay meh? Maybe I should wear baju kurung to work ...

Lies, lies, lies

Questions to those who aren't from the same course or university as me:

Do the staffs in your university ( or in particular: those in charged of your course) lie to you? Or even treat you as if you are retarded?

Because mine did, actually. Not only to me, in fact to many students in Econs Department. A recent incident that happened to my friend really proved that the staff in Econs Dept aren't really good at their jobs. And if I told you the reason they gave my friend for their incompetencies, you would definitely think : What kind of lame excuse is that?? (Good strategy: Blame the incompetencies on the colleague who just left the company)

And don't get me started on the way they speak to us.. It's like we, students are always at fault. And I don't understand why they have to be so L.C.L.Y ?? ( Come on lah, you are just an admin staff la, not the CEO ok) . Also, I don't comprehend why they have to act so authoritative?? Probably they've been under their boss for so long, they feel the need to be authoritative at any chance they could get..

And whenever our parents are around, they'll be super nice and polite and even flashed their mega-watt smiles when they are talking to us..Even told lies to conceal their incompetencies.(And thanked God my friend was smart enough to clarify with the lecturer, and the lecturer was so mad with the dept.. And the dept kena tembak from the lecturer.. Serves them right I would say).

It's sad to see the way they treated us.. Why can't they treat us like adults and not belittle us? What happened to : Budi Bahasa Buday Kita?

Of Stereotypes and Labels

Many a time, we ALWAYS judge a person the minute we laid eyes on them. You know, their sense of style, their hair, their vital stats and of cos the inevitable one, their FACE. We always have this preconceived notions about the person albeit the fact that we barely know the person at all.

More often than not, I have been stereotyped into the party girl category. In fact, many people were taken aback when I told them I rarely visit the clubs and pubs. And the usual reply from them was : " But you looked like those frequent clubbers wor". Argh, how insulting!!!!

Just because the way I portrayed myself as outgoing and somewhat stylish, immediately people will labelled you as the wild child. What's more degrading is that one person thinks that I'm a smoker because I looked like the frequent clubber (Again!!!! **rolls eyes**).FYI, I HATE smokers !!!! I hate the fact that they are so ignorant, puffing that cancer stick in public just to satisfy their pleasure, endangering the lives of non-smokers with their stupid secondhand smoke. And THAT is the most humiliating thing to ever classified me in the same category as them!!!!

And also, just because I have substance sartorially, that doesn't mean I have no substance elsewhere. Of course, I admit that I have been ignorant about the world issues and definitely need to up the ante since most of my lecturers now have been questioning our general knowledge .It's an embarrassment when we could not do anything but to feel helpless when they tested our knowlegde.

Time and time again, we've heard about the saying "Never Judge A Book By Its' Cover". Yet, we humans tend to do the opposite =). Yea, I'm guilty of that.Sigh...How I wish people would know more about an individual before making any judgements - bad/good. After all, looks can be very very deceiving.

Manners

Some people have it but most of them do not. Well, I am sure as hell that one of my female colleague doesn't have it either. I've been observing this impolite behaviour of hers since the last few weeks. Every morning when I arrived at work, I would muster all the confidence that I have (okay, I'm exaggerating here) to greet her or say hello. For a few days after I moved to my new work station, she would respond by smiling lightly. These days, she doesn't even bother to look up from the computer screen when I walked into the office . So I thought I'd stop saying hello since she doesn't notice my existence.(I'm wondering whether she really didn't notice me or she pretends not to notice me. Well,I chose to believe the latter these days). However, today when I came in, she was doing something else which she could totally see me when I walked in..Hence, I decided to say hello to her. And guess what??? She didn't even have the courtesy to reciprocate and she looked at me as if I'm speaking French to her!!!! I'm like WTF??? The least you can do is respond....She finally make my mind up for me ..I'M NOT GOING TO WISH HER AT ALL-----NEVER EVER!!!!! Just so you know, a little nod or a simple smile or a morning greeting would just make my day =) That's not too much to ask, right????

Many a time I've noticed most of my colleagues carry a dead face around the office in the morning ; as if someone had murdered their loved ones or their pet has died. Okay, probably they are too tired from last night's OT but cheer up people!!! From what I've heard from my lousy bro, his colleagues are far much nicer than my colleagues. Usually, his colleague would wish him or sometimes they'll call him taiko too...Muahaha...That's the morning spirit, baby!!! Okay lah.... I have to say that some of my colleagues are quite polite also. Some would reciprocate when I catched their eyes and smiled ...See, it's that simple.I wonder why SHE can't do it??? So highly educated, yet so ill-mannered. Pretty ironic,no???

Enough about HER already.. At least something good happened this week to compensate for the ill-mannered behaviour that I've encountered for the past weeks. The other day when I was leaving for home, I waited for the elevator with a random guy. When the elevator arrived, he waited for me to get in before him. I was surprised by the polite gesture. Most of the people I met will quickly rushed into the elevator as if the door will closed in 30 seconds..... The simple gesture definitely makes me believe that chivalry is not dead.
