Sometimes..

Things might not go your way, but the best way to take it is to look at it positively.
I always believe that things happened for a reason, a good reason in fact :)

If it wasn't meant for you in the first place, then maybe there are always better plans waiting ahead.

So, if you're at a dead end now, and you happened to stumbled upon my blog..Always take a step back and try to look at the bigger picture.. Because we always tend to get too caught up with the situation at hand, we forgot about everything else that might help us solve the problem.

Sometimes it's okay if we don't have a plan B.

And as the saying goes.. God won't give us anything we can't handle.

Also, remember that the best feeling in the world is doing things that people say you cannot do :)

Here It Comes Again...

So the exam season has arrived and self-doubting is practically the name of the game. Constant reassurance is much needed right now.

Seeing that this unholy season has caused many students (in fact, a friend of mine) into a state of "paranoia", a very important words of encouragement to all (haha a principle that I strongly swore by it) : Stay Cool,Calm & Collected! Panicking will get you no where!

And If you think you can do it, you probably will :)

Till then, best of luck to all :)

Strangers, Again

So I've recently watched an indie video that a lot of people were posting on Facebook.. So to satisfy the "kepochi" in me, I click played and moments later,I had a revelation..

The video is about how couples had gone through many stages until one day, they fell out of love with each other. Although I'm not in a relationship right now, but the stages described in the video, rang so true... in terms of my friendship with others.

It's a little sad to see that we used to hang out every Friday to not hanging out at all now. Of cos, I'm kindda comfortable with what I have right now.. but I do missed our sessions. Quite a bit.

And it's even sadder when we bumped into each other in office, but we seldom talked. I think it's partly due to myself, because of the things that were said and done, I sorta have this judgement formed and I couldn't help but to think lesser of her/him.

It's sad to see that we all have drifted apart, and it's even sadder to think that we used to have a blast together, but we acted almost like we don't know each other now. I really missed the night when we all first met, where we talked about anything, before the group proceed to the room for a game of murderer, which was such a blast!

I guess the reason that we stopped hanging out is because work got in the way and none of us actually took the initiative to call each other. Of cos, there are gatherings among batch mates, but from our so-called closed-knitted group, it was usually me or one other person who attended. It was never full attendance from the group.

I guess we lose some and we gained some other friends as we grow older.
And since I'm not really good with goodbyes and sayonaras, normally we would never keep in touch..But in hindsight, I'm lucky to have my friends who are very dear to me, whom I can relied upon, no matter what. And I hope that we would never have to reach the stage where we would be strangers again.

Growing Up

It has been a year since I last posted anything here. Haha, might as well shut it down after all right?

But part of me is thinking that I should leave it as it is.. So, I could just re-visit the good ol' times and see how much I have grown as a person. It's funny to look back at my old posts because I couldn't believe that I have actually posted such topics at that time. Hahaha

Can't believe age is getting the better of me. Not that I'm old (although normally people said I looked older than my age) but the things that are happening around me make me feel like I should really grow up.I'm actually 1 year short of reaching the quarter-life-crisis age.. Hmm, what a stressful thought.. Like I should start making plans for my future. Sigh, I know I should.. but I think I just wanna live a carefree life as of now. You know like Bruce Willis' "LIVE FREE and DIE HARD" .. Muahahahah

Didn't people say the twenties is the time you really explore everything? Like falling madly in love and out of love , travelling around the world, doing everything without consequences. I just wanna do that... Period.

On a different note, March 16 marks my 2-years anniversary with the Firm. Wow, can't believe I can actually survive. Albeit having 2-years experience, how come I still feel like a new joiner? My manager once told me that no matter at what level , you will still have that kind of feeling because you are always learning and hence you will feel like you're inadequate..but in actual fact, you have actually grown quite a lot. It's just that we didn't realised it ourselves. For a split second, she actually inspired me to work harder and put in more effort in my work. Not that I did a half past six job.. But I knew I could have done it better.

Sometimes I questioned whether am I choosing the right job? Other people are getting better pay, doing the job they actually enjoyed and getting less shitty job than my industry. But then again, I would say I'm quite lucky in the sense that generally I got less shittier engagements and my team mates are generally fun to hang out with. I think it's actually the team that is vital to keep you going. Also, I feel I'm quite sheltered as an associate, which can be a good and bad thing. As of now, my main focus is to finish up my papers and then I'll decide.. Uggh!!decisions, decisions, decisions..

Till then, ciao.

p.s. Congrats to one of my dear friend who has just purchased a house!

Speechless

My obsession du jour: Speechless by Lady GaGa.

Fell in love with the version that she collaborated with Sir Elton John's Your Song at the recent Grammys :)

Speaking of being speechless, I was totally dumbfounded when my colleague told me that her dad has colon cancer. I seriously do not know what to say to comfort her. You see, I'm the kind that's not so good with words. It's hard to tell her that it's gonna be okay when the reality is not. If I'm in her shoes, I would definitely cry. I kindda admire her because she seemed so strong, but I guessed she cried too....just not in front of us.

Oh did I also mentioned that she got the shittier job, even though we're under the same engagement...And according to her, her next engagement is gonna be shitty too..

All I can do is ask her to be positive. But I know it's kindda hard for her because everything seems like they're falling apart ...

The only positive way to look at it is : "God won't throw us anything he thinks we can't handle."

So, girl.. Hang in there ok.. And remember.. What didn't kill you, will only make you stronger!

Fragile

Today, Mom got a very bad news from her friend, K.

K's brother has just passed away this afternoon because he was struck by lighting while he was walking on the golf course. The lighting struck directly into his heart. And it wasn't even raining yet. Two of his friends who were standing 10 feet away, survived. Shocking, I know....

Suddenly, I realised that life is so fragile. Who knew when you were going to leave this world. And the worst part is that he died without having his family by his side and he couldn't utter his last wishes to his beloved wife and family.

So, for those of you who had ever think of ending your life or having an abortion, think twice..Appreciate life..Not many people have the privilege to live.

My best condolences to K and her family.

What Do You Believe?

I saw this "food for thought" piece in Daphne Iking's blog and I would like to share with you guys cuz it's really thought-provoking and at the same time, it's so true...

I Believe

I Believe that just because two people argue,
It doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue,
it doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I Believe...That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that. (This is my favourite)

I Believe...That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I Believe...That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.(So true!)

I Believe...That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I Believe...That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe...That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe...That we are responsible for what we do,
No matter how we feel.

I Believe...That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe...That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I Believe...That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I Believe...That my best friend and I, can do anything, or nothing and have the best time. (Another favourite of mine)

I Believe...That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe...That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
(This one is a wake-up call for me)

I Believe...That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
(Yet another favourite!)

I Believe...That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe...That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe...That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but, we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe...That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life... Forever.

I Believe...Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. (Totally agree!)

I Believe...That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe...That even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help. (Totally agree on this one too!)

I Believe...That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe...That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

I Believe that ..'The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything.
(I think this one is the best)

p.s. Can you believe it's August already? Gosh, time really flies.. It's like July's just here and now it's August???

Double Standards

Why is it that all of us have double standards? Why is it okay for ourselves to do something illegal but then we condemn other people who may have done the same thing?

For instance, a person may love to watch chick flicks and you regard the person as lack of substance but then it's okay when you watch chick flicks yourself (FYI, watching chick flicks are just for entertainment, if you want substance, go read encyclopedias or something).

Or say for example: some tales that I heard from my friends are that their boyfriends do not allow them to dress sexily or too revealing for the fear that other guys will check them out. But it's acceptable when the boyfriends themselves check out other girls who dressed sexily.

And the most controversial example which has been debated since the 21st century is: Why do they labelled women who have multiple sex partners as sluts while they defended men who have done the same as nothing more than just a form of polygamy???

So what is the reason for these double standards?

I think I might know why.. It's because we are all selfish human beings, who only care about ourselves and those who are dear to our hearts.

p.s. I'm not saying that I'm a saint here. I do too have my own double standards, just in case you are wondering.

Civil Dusk

Remember how hot and humid was the weather yesterday?? Yeah, it's like I'm living in an oven. But I think some things really happpen for a reason, don't they? It's because of the hot blazing sun, I got to witness one of the most beautiful moment created by Mother Nature i.e. the Civil Dusk (Sounds scientific leh???)

The Civil Dusk means the time at which the sun is 6 degrees below the horizon in the evening. And at this time , objects are distinguishable and some stars and planets are even visible to the naked eye.

Coincidently, I just charged the cell of my camera and hence I have the opportunity to capture this breath-taking view from my balcony. Talk about the perfect timing! So here goes....

I truly, madly and deeply love how the dark blue sky converge with the orange twilight. Oh, and the clouds blend in well too.

I knew I did post about something similar back in May 2007, but this is too beautiful to be passed up.

The Awkward Silence

Most of us have definitely experienced this awkward silence. In fact, ALL of us actually have.

Remember when one minute you were talking to your friends possibly about everything under the sun and the next minute you have nothing to talk at all???? In fact, I've been through this experience many many times. That's why I hate to be left alone with a stranger because we only have so much to talk about - about our families, place that we study, yada yada... Oh ya and the inevitable question : Do you have have a boyfriend/girlfriend???

Undoubtedly, the BCs and I have a gazillion things to chat about especially when we just gotten to know each other. We could talk and talk and talk for hours non-stop. Muahaha...I think our record was 6 hours straight on MSN :) Now that we've been so comfortable with each other, sometimes we actually ran out of topic to talk about....

Most of you probably think that I'm a talkative person, right? Truth to be told, I'm a listener. In fact, a good listener (Ok la, self-proclaimed a bit) . I actually prefer to listen rather than talking (But u gotta go straight to the point. No beating around the bush). That's why I hate to be the one to break the awkward silence....Then again, it's very difficult to not be the one who break the silence especially if the person you are talking to is worst than you.I seriously can't stand those who gave you one syllable answer when you've asked them like a zillion questions

-_-u

A friend once told me the reason behind the awkward silence is because angels are passing by. So, we gotta be silent for a moment. Haha..a good reason, I would say....So, next time when any of you encounter the awkward silence, you could use the reason as a topic to break the silence ;p

I would normally break the silence by asking : How come suddenly so silent wan??

So, tell me..What is the most common lines that you've used to break the silence?

P for Pavilion

After 6 years of the Bukit Bintang Girls School (BBGS) reallocation to Taman Shamelin Perkasa, the empty land opposite the luxurious shopping mall,Starhill has finally been occupied by yet another exclusive shopping mall;i.e. The Pavilion.
After much hearsays about The Gardens being much more posh than The Pavilion, I took the opportunity to see it for myself during Raya Holidays =)

Revisiting the place that used to be my high school gave me mixed feelings. I am utterly excited about how Pavilion's interior would looked like. At the same time, it makes me reminisce about high school years, particularly my first year. Arghh.. The feeling of being vulnerable when you were the new kid on the block and the "bullies" from the seniors during orientation were coming back to me now. And not forgetting the beginning of our self-discovery journey, especially when most of us were turning into little women at that time.
Anyways, 'nuff bout my musings already..

When I first stepped foot into Pavi, the first shop that I saw is Crystal Jade and boy, was I surprised!!! The interior design is gorgeous - very contemporary and chic! I love it!!!

As we walked further, there were more 'oohs and ahhs' from my mother and I ;-p

All the shops are like high-end stores, some even has 2 storeys!! Ok la,I'm a bit jakun le..Hehehe...
Pavi was a complete transformation from BBGS!!!

Don't believe me?? See it for yourself......

Now.....

No wonder there's some stench when I was in the area.....Muahahah

And then....

In my opinion, the government should retain this 106 years old heritage. BBGS is such a maginificent legacy, where millions of women had attended since the 19th century. It's sad to see the demolition of the building for comercial purposes.

Here's a tribute for my legendary high-school, BBGS:

The School Song

BBGS we pledge to thee,
Our love and toil in the years to be,
When we are grown and take our place,
As loyal women with our race.

Father in heaven who lovest all,
O help thy children when they call,
That we may build from age to age,
An undefiled heritage.

Teach us to bear the yoke in youth,
With steadfastness and careful truth,
That in out time thy grace may give,
The truth whereby the nations live.

Teach us delight in simple things,
And mirth that has no bitter springs,
Forgiveness free of evil done,
And love to all men `neath the sun.
